I think the minimap issue has been a longstanding issue from cursory searches, but wonder if anyone has found a solution or workaround to this? I've been trying to get my Radeon HD 3650 using fglrx to run. I think I wiped my raid once on Lurker because the minimap didn't work and couldn't find the island I was supposed to stand on after getting off (well, not totally my fault, but that was a dumb excuse I had to supply. When I try to run in Direct3d mode, it will simply error out when starting the game. Only way I can even get to login is using OpenGL mode. Any success stories about this?
So far the only successes I've had with WoW are:
ATI Radeon 9000M with Opensource driver - works perfectly, but too slow - Direct3d
NVidia GeForce4 MX420 with Nvidia driver - works perfectly but too slow - Direct3d
Intel GMA X3000 with Opensource driver - works perfectly but slow - Direct3d
would be nice if I could get this to work with Direct3d like the other video cards!
I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
